about shadows on the morning snow
Shadows Chasing Shadows

Shadows chasing shadows are
so graceful in their flow,
mingling with the morning light
on pristine driven snow.

Diamonds in a bed of white
that sparkle in the sun.
The shadows are retreating
the sunbeams have to run.

Northwest winds have come to call,
the sun has not quite set.
Soon the snowy powder spins
a perfect pirouette.

Winter's wrath has left it's mark
with snow up to my knees.
Icy streams are frozen dreams
beneath the Hemlock trees.

Night gives birth to northern lights,
their ribbons paint the skies.
All the world turns red and green,
a treat for these old eyes.

I will find my way back home
to a gently burning fire,
where shadows dance upon the walls
and dreams are my desire.
