Something different
the city whispers
windchill caresses palm fronds
trimming dead branches

branches of pine trees
wave invite sparrows to nest
shaded from the sun

sun cast dark shadows
across asphalt parking lots
grass growing in cracks

cracks attract insects
until hot temperatures
drives them into shade

shade is at a premium
as spring melts into summer
