A fiftieth reunion is one you should go to. You might be surprised. It is worth it.
Reunion
Our high school reunion happened last night
My husband encouraged me to go
I’m glad to see that after fifty years
Everyone looked fresh and all aglow.

My best friend Dawn who was a trend setter
She wore make-up and clothes with a free style
She married a man who soon ditched her
And had to work in a store selling floor tile.

Our bad boy Barry went into the Army
In high school he found ways to get out of his work
But one day he stepped on a hidden land mind
And from a wheelchair could only do things as a clerk.

Anita could never be happy
Since love for her was always a mile away
Her books are romance hot best sellers
That are made into movies and even a play.

Jim had an unfortunate home life we remember
Everyone thought he’d be jailed and released
He found something that lifted his spirit
He got religion and became a loving priest.

Next came the roll call for those who were missing
The ones who answered our country’s call
They were unforgotten and given due honor
Each one in my own heart was standing tall.

Our dinner and dance went by so beautifully
I tried not to cry as I finally walked out the door
I hugged each classmate with warm happiness
This lovely reunion was better than what I hoped for.
