Week 3 of my Weekly Poem
I wish I could write
In times other than this
Of such aching sadness

This fury eating
Me from the
Inside out

I wish I could
Prevent the others
From feeling this

Piercing pain, the
Way it stabs blindly at
My soul

I’m walking on
Shards of glass in
My dreams and in the day

The pain of
Dying so many times over in
So many ways

Starts to weigh on a person,
You know it changes them
It hurts them so deeply

To die in
Every one of
Their dreams

Whoops, too deep?
Too real?
Too true?

Maybe next time,
You’ll see in her, not just
Her eyes but

What is behind them.
Her pain, hidden well
Her scars, visibly fading on her skin

Maybe you will even see
The remnants of her tears,
Or the scars from where she’s pinched her wrists

To wake up
But you wouldn’t notice because
There was already a scar she’s just

Adding more
To her skin that you seem
To want so much

But why
Do you try
To lay claim to fire?

So explosive,
So dangerous
Yet you dream for her to be only yours
