A Synchronicity poem in honor of the demon fighter
Demons

I wrestle with the she-demon
who grasps at me and tries to pin
me down.

Her guttural speech frightens me
But I will not be overcome
"Begone!"

When I manage to wriggle free
She switches to a soothing tone
A trick!

Silently, I bring forth the spells
to ward off evil that I learned
when young.

But though I implore the spirits
to cast her away, she roars and
won't leave.

Exhausted from the battle, we
retreat to our corners and nurse
our wounds.

-----------------------------------------------

The shadows lift and blow away
I caress her cheek and whisper,
"My child!"

Her now-familiar face lights up
With tears of joy, she grasps my hand,
"Oh, mom!"
