Tangerine Fields [Festival, Part I]

We dream outside the ley lines
We colour out our dreams
Through carnivals the soul climbs,
So noisily it seems

Through festivals we travel
Out into the woods
As knots and nerves unravel
As all our worries should

Where nothing really matters
With not a cloud in sight
In tents, such souls lie shattered
Thriving in the light

Shadows cast upon the straw,
with bright light shining down
A sun that beats in time with yours,
in skies, blue, clear... drown

'tween pounding beats and grounding sheets
With bell tents ringing true
Peeling between the heat
As days and nights burn through

Waking with our eyes wide closed,
in echoes of a dream
Lost in thoughts a warm night posed,
in fields tangerine

Orange, burnt with passions reached
Fruits spun from looms, a dearth
With browning grass and flowers bleached,
in cracked receding earth

With train tracks buckled in the heat
Friends, foreign join the fray
Rails warped beneath our feet
They help us find our way

Through routes unplanned, expertly manned
It finds a natural line
As zones of comfort stretch, expand,
and wingspans beat in time

With dragonflies that flit through parks,
and flyers spent on cars
With wipers sprung on windows marked,
with permits from afar

Where carpools merge with ball pools
Through lost hours, small at dawn
As fire draws and light shows pull
The beats 'tween which we're torn

The places where the soul escaped
Spaces in the past
Faces friendly, spirits draped,
with stage's beats so vast

With schemes forged fast in foundries,
so noisily they pine
We dream outside the boundaries,
… we colour out the lines
