Entry in Writer's Cramp About The Depression Era Racism of the 1930's
This poem was entered in "The Writer's Cramp. The bolded phrases are required for the prompt.

Just give us something
to chew on, Thin Man
Nougat cubes tossed to the lynch mob
hanging by a rope of doomed lyrics

Cotton Farmers in Alabama
felt the pain of Depression banjo
like those hardy souls
loading coal in West by-God Virginia

Took our time to the emergency exit
believing in something fresh,
hearing it one too many times
Swing us from that tree with forgotten music of 1939
