A poem about the first time a new mother feels like a mother
Mommy Love

Baby when you smile at me and laugh for the first time
When your tiny fingers clasp gently around mine
I’ve never known a greater love.
I want to hold you close like this forever- my pride and joy, a sliver of gleaming innocence
Solace. In this complicated world. you are my simplicity
I love you more and more each day
You teach me something new
My heart blossoms like a lotus flower till there's only me and you
And suddenly life makes sense
Your tiny eyes look up at me
I brush your cheek
Anticipating the day you open your tiny mouth to speak the words I feel so deeply now
in every fiber of my being
Mommy
