Lest We Forget
Remembrance

In honour of the fallen,
for the things they've left behind,
as sins they've saved, befall them
Bled out over time

Ran red over a century,
running redder, further still
Lost in lands of gentry,
… now buried in our hills

Reaching their centennial
Stems plastic, green, we're led,
with memories perennial,
… in petals, die cut red

In Poppy groves we ward them,
safe from the whims of time
Through winds of change, we hoard them
… treasons housed in victors' rhymes

A rhythm to the rhetoric
The stories where we play,
'midst morals moot, esoteric
… it's difficult to say

Such lives spent for the taking,
what lessons have we learned?
A century in the making,
what profits have we earned?

With tears cost in fears
Lost prophets are interred
Echoing through five score years
Their voices are still heard

Survivors sense their calling,
resonating where we dwell
In honour of the fallen,
… Centurions, who fell
