A sonnet to my lover
Never a creature was graced from on high,
To caress this poor heart or fill my eye,
Nor flow like curtains of liquid blue sky,
As vividly smooth as when Velvet walks by.

I'm reminded of her when Blue Velvet I hear,
Or enter the season for in velvet deer,
Painted Elvis on velvet will always endear,
She's held by my heart in exalted revere.

A gown or a glove, a tux or a cake,
Will set into motion my love's gentle ache,
For it's her image my precious dreams make,
From the time I lay down 'til the time I awake,

Sacred is the music of her velveteen voice,
She's my heart and soul's unanimous choice.
