What we can see when we open our eyes
Standing on a crowded corner
Trying not to notice one another
Single momma, broke down man
Lives goin against their plan
Silent thoughts, avoiding eyes
Ignoring the homeless baby’s cries
All it could take is just one glance
A helping hand offering a chance
Still they choose to ignore
Acting though it’s too big a chore
Look past what they create
See inside, and what they hate
About themselves, souls in rage
Locked inside a self-imposed cage
One will stop, take a glance
Offer their hand, full of chance
Offer the momma a brand new start
Give some hope to her broken heart
Pass the man a bit of respect
Give some pride, not much to expect
Give the baby a loving home
No longer to feel so alone
Is it you that gave the glance?
It gets better when you take the chance.
