Through thick and thin means through it all.
Burning

The flames speak of times before
Times when we were cold, together yet alone.
They tell me of a time when things could have been more,
But fire is malleable, nothing is set in stone.

So I stand here, facing the fire.
Watching them dance
Witnessing them rise higher.
But this enthralling trance
Will not last
And I wait for the end
To move from the past.
So as I watch, and flesh the flames rend.

It is not loss, it is not fate
That keeps you from me
Behind this infernal gate.
The embers burn my eyes until it’s hard to see
You within the flames forever burning.
The heat will not die
And my heart is yearning.
I can not wait, it must be you and I.

So I step to the flames,
And into the heat.
We call each other's names
Clasp hands and take a seat.

For not even the flame will keep me from you.
