A poem about doors
"DOORS"

Many doors in life I've yearned to go through
Doors to put away fears and experience the new
But with the comforts of what I already know
I tremble and pause and miss another chance to grow
Once again as the door closes shut
I console myself with another “But”
It wouldn't have blessed, I say, and besides I'm happy here
It couldn't have been better, I say, as I shed another tear?
But deep down inside I know God’s Word is true
And that at any time I can put away the old and live in the new
There are slamming doors that resonate in my mind
Doors that I’ve looked through, but did not find
Doors that bring much pain whenever I reminisce
Doors that I try but that I cannot dismiss
New doors, old doors, doors that do not exist
Pretty doors, ugly doors, doors that I could not resist
Little doors, great doors, doors that open wide
Colorful doors, subtle doors, doors that hide
Doors that open only to reveal the suspense
Doors that testify but not to my defense
Doors that shut to conceal the pain
And doors that I remember stepping into not to be slain
But the door that I think I love the best
Is the door where Jesus knocks and says…enter into My rest…”
