A bit of a seasonal piece that's been knocking around a while
English Summer

Wind chimes in the Winter
With memories that last
As seasons split and splinter
Leaving Summer in the past

With a sun that comes out rarely
Despite how well it shines
A silver moon contrary
Like wolves, we bay and pine

Reflected on the other side
The other side of night
A sun slid shroud, in clouds it hides
So vibrant, out of sight

As winter rolls in wetter
And the grey rolls into play
Sometimes the moon is better
Unbridled from the day

Still its like a nightmare
She canters through the night
A gelding bright beyond compare
Can fill a heart with fright

A stunning sight, a second wind
She comes out with the moon
Reflected cross the night stars pinned
Like glitter 'midst life's gloom

Estranging are the reasons
So treasonous, the shards
The cycling of seasons,
The changing of the guards

'tween solstice twinned, such souls are pieced
Born, assembled... dressed
Rising brightly in the east
… Sunk softly in the west

Buried 'neath a subtle cross
That few could hope to find
Marked, interred and scored in loss
In seasoned hearts and minds

With offers of a rummer's tot
Which could have led... Who knows?
But that's an English Summer's lot
… or more often, how it goes

With whispers of a Summer breeze
Blown faint through Winter's cold
With wind chimes marking times we seized
… and things we couldn't hold
