Contemplates time spent commuting
our lives are spent between spaces of time
we hustle on toward the next destination
         a better destination
         or just simply different
our eyes watch the clock tick tock the
         minutes, seconds, hours
As we travel from one point in space to another point in time

we
         shorten,
         quicken,
         hasten
these back and forth moments

as we press for more, better now...
         is not enough
         does not satisfy
         the mind’s voracious appetite for
                   better,
                   more,
                   now

ware blind to the here-and-now present,
in all its splendor and wisdom
a moment cannot be recovered
we hurl ourselves to the next destination

What if we used these in between moments? To nourish our souls, fill our hearts with love, learn something new?

What if we turned off the radio and listened to the kinds of the world all around us?

How much do we miss in a day because we are rushing, and blind to the beautiful things God fills our day with?
