A look at how our perception and ideas of fear change with age.
Fleeting glimpses,
Evil monsters,
A shadow in the dark,
Rooms are what I fear

Fitting in,
Eyes watching,
A snicker behind my back,
Rejection is what I fear

Feelings hurt,
Ego bruised,
A friend no longer,
Relationships are what I fear

Fired from work,
Eating cereal for dinner
A run-down apartment
Reality is what I fear

Feet that cannot walk,
Ears that cannot hear,
A broken, old man,
Remind me what fear is

Finally done,
Eased to the ground,
A gravestone above my head,
Real fear exists no more
