Poem inspired by autumn
The autumnal colours red orange and brown
Swiftly fall and clothe the grey ground;
This colour-splashed path a portal into the past –
Kicking leaves, a girl again at last.

A girl without a thought of tomorrow;
Of life, flitting by like a swallow;
Of people, who come and go
As quickly as the winter snow.

A girl oblivious to how people change
As the seasons do, becoming more estranged.
Unthinking of the inevitable road ahead;
The swallow’s blood staining the snow red.

But now the girl trudging through the snow
Is a girl no more, no…
