Quick Poem for 3/2/19 "Writer's Cramp"
Spun Out

It's more than a headache,
these echoing reminders of a forgotten past-
I was parched for you, and when I needed a gallon
you gave me a thimble-
Because who am I to ask?

Lost thoughts fly by me,
Slapping at the spokes of the relentless wheels
Of the bicycle race that is my brain-
round and round they go in the velodrome of my skull
Can't stop, can't fall into the void

Where were you, when I tumbled?
The interminable interim without you-
Gut-tearing loneliness, silence...guilt
Freedom, self-assurance, growth-
Your triumphant return- wheels spinning again
