A poem I wrote on a women's retreat.
Women's Retreat

1.
I love my big bed – the comfort it offers me
as I sink into it to rest and rejuvenate
safe warm firm yielding

next to my person
(and sometimes my dog)

bundled in my comforter
wrapped in its arms and held

my refuge, my respite, after a long day.

2.
I love our women’s retreats – the comfort they offer me
as I sink into them to rest and rejuvenate
safe warm firm yielding

next to my people
(but never my dog)

bundled in comfort
wrapped in their arms and held

my refuge, my respite, after a long year.

3.
I do not love my retreat bed

It is too soft, my person is not there
(nor my dog)

bundled in my comforter
wrapped in its arms and held
captive to insomnia, waiting for morning

my refuge, my respite, after a long night.

4.
I love my big bed – the comfort it offers me
as I sink into it to rest and rejuvenate
safe warm firm yielding

next to my person
(and sometimes my dog)

bundled in my comforter
wrapped in its arms and held

my refuge, my respite, after a long retreat.
