I offer everyone their own interpretation, but I wrote this for a specific reason.
Teenage Blues

It's not like you don't know
You see it through my burning shell
And my sweaters that you wear
And how I'm staring through the gates of hell.
But you just don't have my eyes-
You only grasp crimson lies.
Insist your veins look blue through your skin,
But only let the red flow, and then breath it in.

So now I'm wondering
Do you ever look at the sky?
I Know that you don't have to,
You see a gorgeous sunset on horizon line-
shades of scarlet, violet, and maroon.
But you don't see it through my eyes:
Vision blurry and drunk on gin
The thought that you'll never be mine.

Your red dress pictured lying next to me
On the floor of my messy room

You say that you love Blue,
Even though your eyes are blind.
Why did you come?
And why did you go?
Is this all just a bitter show?
You're bleeding through your bandages,
Praising red with your antithesis,
While I'm sinking through this ocean blues
Staring at all your hues.

Always looked purple to me
But he said he would warm you up-
Burned you all up with his spite.
Tore through your covers with some hard-stuck luck
Left you bruised with blue and purple.
Never were very subtle.
I can see through that red-lipstick smile
that you haven't been happy for a while.

Your red dress pictured lying next to me
By the side of my messy bed

You that say you love Blue,
Even though you're eyes are blind.
Why did you come?
And why did you go?
Is this all just a shitty show?
You're bleeding through your bandages,
Praising red with your antithesis,
While I'm sinking through this ocean blues
Staring at all your hues.

Why can't you see me?
Why can't you be free?
He's tying you up, love.
Haven't you had enough?
You're bleeding all the time,
Claiming you are fine.
Let me heal you,
Show you how to fly
The night can be ours,
We'll be in the sky
for hours.

Your soft, empty skin doesn't have to bleed,
You don't have to overdose on meds.

You that say you love Blue,
Even though you're eyes are blind.
Why did you come?
Why did you go?
Is this all just a shitty show?
You're bleeding through your bandages,
Praising red with your antithesis,
While I'm sinking through this ocean blues
I think I love you.
