Some memoirs from a bad day at the office a few weeks back
Soulquake

The ground, it broke and swallowed,
… it didn't take a bite
I took the fall and followed,
in free fall through the blight

I tried to tread so tightly
I longed to leave it loose
Bouncing. Bounding. Brightly.
Knotted, numb... neck in a noose

Left suspended, hanging,
too long, left out to dry,
with laundry left demanding
the dirty answers why

Why we dance such dances?
Why we make such moves?
Why we don't take chances?
… why we fake our truths?

Lost in anxious stuttering,
with truths hard to define
Suffering through buffering,
with white noise on the line

Crossed, embossed, lost messages
Fonts bold... raw, sold as seen
A sign, a mark of presages,
foreshadowing a dream

A scheme blighted by omens,
as ground it opens, draws
Swallowed whole in moments,
frantic from ourselves, we claw

Clawing through the mind's debris,
the remnants of our souls
We bury bones so guiltily,
we leave them in our holes

Abandoned in such marrow steeped,
… deep within our cores
In channels fired narrow, reaped,
claustrophobic, choking bores

To fall within... it follows,
a free fall of the soul
In ground that breaks and swallows
… consuming spirits whole
