A poem about fairies & daffodils inspired by a Cornish fairytale for Once Upon A Contest.
The Fairies And The Bees

Each spring, the flower first in bloom
is David’s daffodil.
Its yellow blossoms greet the sun
from every vale and hill.

In ancient times, a fairy came
to cast a magic spell,
which turned those flowers into shapes
a little like a bell.

When bumblebees land on those buds,
the noise we hear astounds,
because that trumpet shape is great
to amplify their sounds.

It’s said the fairies love to dance
accompanied by bees.
They flatten circles in the grass
then hide amongst the trees.

So when you see a fairy ring,
watch out for daffodils,
because that’s where the bees are found,
and fairies get their thrills.
