This is a poem I wrote about self-reflection, and how scary it is to truly look at myself
I look deep into the mirror
And scrutinize what I see.
Surely I've come to hate
The thing that's staring back at me.

My skin is pockmarked with failure,
My teeth are yellowed with pride,
My hair is dulled with selfishness,
When the mirror reflects what's inside.

Its painful to make eye contact with
The monster that lives there,
Rather than look, I'd tear out my eyes
And leave two bloody sockets bare.

I try to make my outer self
More beautiful than its ever been,
So when I look into the mirror I'll forget
What I really look like within.
