A poem about being dragged away by something that looked so nice... at first.
They’re calling me
The river sings to me
I long to taste it’s taste
I kneel down
The water is so sparkly and perfect
I can see my reflection looking at me
The sun’s warm glow shines
It brings the river to life
I cup my hands
The water is so cool
It’s flowing past me
Racing over the rocks
Leaping over the leaves
I bring it to my lips
And sip...
It’s horrible
It’s disgusting
I spit it out
It’s red
The sun is gone
It’s not singing anymore
It’s screaming
Listen-!
“I TRIED”
“I FAILED”
I THOUGHT”
“I WAS”
It’s racing down
It’s not getting faster
It’s so violent
It’s flooding
Shit...
It grabs me
It drags me under
I can’t swim
It’s pushing me back too fast
Thunder
Lightning
Screaming
I yell for help
No one can hear me
The river is consuming me
I can’t see
I’m dizzy
I must have hit my head
I'm submerged
I can't get my head above water
All I want is some f
