A friend lost to early
You departed Ft. Lauderdale in 1994
Why did I miss your last flight?
Maybe it was some form of inner insight
I should have been there

Plane went down but not on the ground
No Wreckage - No Bodies, just miles of sea and years of memories
I should have been there

I wish I knew what happened on that fateful day
Maybe I could have saved the day
I should have been there

We were friends and now your gone
I really hoped you would have been found
Then at least your body would have been home-bound
I should have been there

They say God has a plan but I think its just a scam
Because your life just began and I ran
I should have been there

I hope there's a place high in the sky where pilot's go when they die
So I can give you a proper good-bye and we can fly oh so high
I am there
