Whose body is that?
Words 95

I swim in the swimming pool, my arm rises from the blue water, past my eyes. Whose arm is that? Surely it cannot be mine. My arms are young, the skin firm, muscles taut. This alien arm must belong to some other.
I look down into the cool water. Whose leg is that? Surely it can’t be mine. My leg is long, strong, athletic. This leg has loose skin, it ripples as it moves. It can’t be mine.
Yet though seemingly not mine, these arms and legs propel me through the water. I give thanks.
