Little ditty to start off my new poetic life after a decade of suffering from errors.
Doggerel from a former me
(As I am no longer she)
Makes me wince indeed to read
Don't like it now, as poetry.

I hope to write much better now
As I have survived somehow
The hits that life has given me
Tempted still to take a bow.

As daily I document
The things I do and don't lament
But always grateful prayers I say
As up to heaven they are sent.

For worse still could have been my fate
If I told you, you could relate
But lessons learned in any case
Where better things are on my plate!

As I said, I wince when reading
Old stuff from when my heart was bleeding.
What foolish grown-up chidren do
When on our ego we are feeding!

I turned the wrong way on that road,
Took my cues from an old toad
Threw my morals right away
So now my past is heavy load.

But see, I've learned from my mistakes
As some will do, and some will fake
Never to repeat again
As I pledge now, for all our sakes!

So doggerel I will not write,
Of (censored) subjects, at their height
Nor fevered odes to undeserving
Now that I have seen the light!
