A poem written while listening to Whitney Houston’s Run to You.
When you find something you love you hold on to it
Even when everyone around you tells you it’s dumb
You try your best to make it work
Spend countless hours a day hammering at it
All your efforts are wasted as you fail
Each time you fail you are ready to give it another go
Time has flown by and it’s been a couple of years
Yet your feet are still in the same spot
Years wasted and not a single step taken
Your heart sinks as you feel regret
You followed your heart and it has failed you
Everyone else has passed you and that kills you
Should you call it quits
You’re already thirty and failed many times
What’s the point in trying anymore
Following your dreams is hard
But giving up in them is even harder
You decide to give it one more shot
As you walk the lonely path
Alone with nothing but a dream
