Just wanted to get something off my chest.

Off My Chest

By Victor L. Rolling Jr.

Little brown boy,

Why do you look so distressed?

In a country of much,

You act as if you have less,

You may have secondhand items,

New isn't the best,

It's what you will do,

That will surely impress,

So little brown boy,

Why do you look distressed?

In a country so rich, a country so blessed.

Ma'am, why do you feel that it is okay?

Referring to me as little brown boy, as if I don't have a name,

Why do you think this country is abundantly blessed?

When they kill my family members, and take their last breaths,

Why you do feel that it is so blessed, when walking down streets, end in arrest,

I can't go to the pool, to the park, I can't even rest,

In the lobby of my dorm room, after a day college test,

So, you ask me again, why I am distressed?

Because people like you've turned this country into an opulent mess.

Oh, don't call the police, I had to get that off my chest.
