a brief lamentation
nature takes over again

Behold abandoned city street
in this forsaken corridor,
where once the heart of commerce beat
with pulse of merchant matador.

The bustling crowds and neon lights
endowed the scene with vibrant life,
until corruption brought on blight
and left the district wrapped in strife.

The sound of silence echoes through
the urban canyon's stagnant air,
as broken promise bids adieu
amid the rubble lying there.

Yours truly went to scrutinize,
with me, myself, and I in tow,
and witnessed neighborhood's demise.
Oh! Where did all the people go?

Dire sights, despair, and putrid smells
are all that's found in urban shells.
