I exist solely in my mind. A Taboo Words Contest Winner
My Sin

I exist solely in my mind,
my senses search the darkened void.
I seek but nothing can I find.
Is this some cosmic schadenfreude?

Shattered memories coalesce
revealing pieces of my past.
They fester like some dank abscess
until the truth is clear, at last.

I float above a grave. A stone
lies near with nothing but a name.
No gathering, no mourner’s drone.
Only silence shares my shame.

No longer bound, this strange rebirth
is short-lived as I’m pulled within
the coffin as each clump of earth
is scattered o’er my wooden skin.

No sound, no smell, no touch, no sight.
I exist solely in my mind
trapped in an eternal night.
I seek but nothing can I find.

Forever am I locked within
to contemplate my life… my sin.
