Many a soldier has made.
A SOLDIER’S PRAYER

I served my country
In a different war,
Now listen to the winds
Blow much like before.

From the desert sands
Of a war torn hell,
Comes a soldier’s prayer
I have prayed as well.

God, give me strength
Each new day to face,
Until I can go home,
Leave behind this place.

Where some are killing
Other guys like me,
When we only came
To set them free.

There’s a red like stain
Here in the sand,
That grows each day
Throughout the land.

I pray to go back
Once more again
There, to stand fast
With family and friend.

For all of us who die,
Before the world does wake
I’m asking this, of God,
Our souls; please take.

Amen.
