about fighting the good fight but never really winning
I tell the demon's leave my sight, but all they wanna do is fight

They never want to go away, all they wanna do is play

Every night and face to face my happiness they do erase

They take all that I love and need and fill it with their endless greed

They ask me why night after night I stand up to them and try to fight

I tell them I will not retreat until in victory I defeat

They tell me I haven't got much time before I'm swallowed by the grime

They say if my soul at their feet I would lay that they will simply go away

I tell them I will never give them that

The demon stands and tips his hat

The demons all laugh and say goodnight, tomorrow then another fight

I say to them, tears in my eyes, how come no one can hear my cries

Your people left you long ago and now your name they do not know

Why I said, what did I do ?

So naive and so hopeless, still haven't a clue

and that is the part you do not understand its all part of our master plan

We simply whispered in their ear's that for you they should shed no tears

They barely noticed you anyway and that is all we had to say

I told you one day we would take your soul and leave you with an endless hole

We don't know why night after night you stand again prepared to fight

Come with us, we will hold you tight, you must be exhausted from the fight

Your pain and misery will go away if at our feet your soul you lay
