A broken marriage, sort of a country song
Seldom

I thought you really loved me.
I finally had my dreams.
We planned a lovely future.
Turns out love is seldom what it seems.

You promised to be faithful
To treat me with respect.
What I wanted didn't matter.
You filled my heart with deep regret.

I asked myself what I did wrong.
How could we go so far astray?
We didn't have a life together,
Everything had to be your way.

Now it hurts to say good-bye,
To let go of plans and schemes.
The stars are gone from our eyes.
Turns out love is seldom what it seems.
