Real world occasions deserve a fearful scream.

Kennedy and Nixon's debate was extreme,
One found Russian missiles in Cuba to fight.

They outlawed LSD's psychedelic dream,
Janis Joplin's death, a great loss in hindsight,
Real world occasions deserve a fearful scream.

Saturday Night Live seemed an innocent theme,
Nintendo's first game box brought millions delight,
Things in October are seldom what they seem.

O.J. found innocent of a killing scheme,
Mitch's wind killed twenty thousand souls outright,
Real world occasions deserve a fearful scream.

Recently my aging blood run cold as cream,
How many more will meet poor Khashoggi's plight,
Real world occasions deserve a fearful scream,

Note: All events mentioned occurred in October during my lifetime.

19 Lines

Villanelle; Consists of nineteen lines and is comprised of two rhymes. The first and third lines of the first verse become the alternating final lines of the next four verses. In the last stanza, they form a couplet and become the "Closure". Finally, all the 2nd lines of each stanza rhyme with each other.
