The life of this man has been going on for a long time.
The scene is always the same
I walk out the door of my old country house
I see uncut grass that has small drops of dew on it
Next I walk down the narrow, dirt road that has fields, filled with holes
I detour to a small bridge and a hill that has a flagpole on it
There is a gentle breeze blowing as I raise the flag
My responsibility at dawn is done
It is always the same
Raise the flag
Salute
Return home
Watch for more enemy soldiers
Even though the war ended 25 years ago, it is
Always the same
