A poem about the true meaning of the word.
Ugly.

A powerful word I prefer not to use,
Definitely not to describe looks, style or shoes.

It’s found buried deep inside the unfortunate,
Rotting and burning a hole in their gut.

I imagine it’s a horribly painful existence,
To carry that ugly around, no resistance.

Relief only comes when they throw it at you,
Leaving you wondering, “What did I do?”

Beautiful soul, you did nothing at all,
Ugly feels better making others feel small.

Just be quick on your feet and dodge when they throw,
Let them keep their ugly. That’s their seed to sow.
