Life is short so live it long
Season's End

So many suits, such shades of black,
from blue, to gray... to coal
Things we're used to, now we lack,
lost lives can take their toll

Amidst an autumn copper, hewn,
beneath the naked boughs
A sheet of rustic leaves lay strewn,
as memories arouse

Through copses thinned of fallen leaves,
laid, rustled on the ground
A shroud once proud, the fallen grieve,
a forest, foreign... found

The strong one's pick the pieces up,
get back up on the horse
Recover from what fate throws up,
continue on their course

Cold amidst an autumn breeze,
chilled amongst the fall,
numb we wait, down on our knees,
for spring to make its call

We root down with the things we trust,
we choose those we befriend
Ash to Ash... Dust to Dust,
... to all good things, an end
