A poem for Alice and Walter

Effortlessly as if guided
I drove
I drove the roads I had known for so many years
To find you
Turn after turn I glided through time

The green chain link fence
The wet ground soaking my jeans

As I sat with you
As I wrote to you
As I loved you

A small yellow bug perched on my pen
Only leaving me to tend to your flowers

I left a note for you behind the blue rock
I know you’ll read it
I know when it rains it will disintegrate
And be with you forever
