Warmth in winter

Flicker and flash
Crackle and pop
From the logs aflame.
The smells of
Winter and pine
Permeate my nares.
A ceramic cup,
whirls of steam
Wafting away,
As heated brown liquid
Swirls about warming
Between my palms.
Cozy warmth enshrines
My body curled
Under layers of homemade
Woolen blankets.
My soul fills
With gentle peace
At the closing of my eyes.
