A poem about finding love in unlikely places

The Conductor, Part 1

A spinster's life

Is a plain thing

Solid, yet lacking

The familiar

Intimacy

No shrill voices

Of children

No quiet

Conversations

After love

She is always

Predictable,

On time and stable

Until she meets

The Conductor

Each morning

As she boards

Her train

He is there

And he sees her

Nobody sees her

Until now

Electricity which

Was untapped

Surges within

The fat gold band

On his finger

Slams the door

But still, yet

He sees her

Unwillingly,

Her heart races

Beats in her

Like a racehorse

Charging the gate

Each day

She looks for him

Each day

He sees her

She is alive
