An acrostic to my daughter.
There is nothing more beautiful;
Holy and splendid gift from the Lord.
Emily I cherish the day you were born.

Doubtlessly their are better dads,
Always equipped to solve problems,
Yielding not to failures that loom.

Emily I cherish the day you were born,
My smile and pride ten feet wide.
I never knew love until I saw you
Lying at your mother’s breast,
Yielding to a loving warmth.

Was I ever the knight in shining armor,
Always equipped to solve problems,
Striving to keep you from harm?

Balm to my soul though I didn’t always show;
Overwhelmed by my emotions as I often am,
Rightly, a child should be loved and cherished,
No less a gift from God than a miracle.
