Métis residential school experiences based on an exhibit I visited.
Silenced voices scream from fiery orange display
a page ripped out of history
the authors' pen dipped in humour
cloaked in calm
Invisible faces, angry voices
filled with resentment and reasons to smile
Bannock coffee break
Broken hearted beads in a floral motif
resistance underneath community strength
Unraveled identity sewn together with
threads of resilience that never fray
infinite existence, a nation of people
who dance to a song once forgotten
A story passed through generations
in poetry slaps our souls awake
