A less veiled version of 'Wonderlands', some faces aren't meant to be hidden
Masks

I want to know the real you,
... it seems too much too ask
Behind the fur and feathers flew,
beyond the fire... past the mask

I've rented out, your laughter, heard
a smile, magic, cryptic... deep
A smile easy, thought conferred,
a smile hard to hold... to keep

Hard to salvage in the rill,
as time and life so swiftly flies
I long to hold you closer, still,
to dance beyond bejewelled eyes

Eyes that burn with passion, blazed,
sights veiled, lost, I will not see
A puzzle with more questions raised,
where answers left, are lost to me

from a heart, unspoken, mute,
a soul beset, with dreams unchecked
Spirits shattered... broken, shoot,
conclusions cold, the mind accepts

Hard to see your own worth when,
it's hard to say... to argue why
Why we won't work sewn earth, spent,
such buried seeds, we seldom try

to tow a line together, ground,
a heart, a soul, our dreams bequeathed
Past fire's flames and feathers found,
beyond the truths that lie beneath

A heart creased lost in hiding, beats,
pulsing to another's sway
Fold my soul between the sheets,
in darkened creases, let it play

Too far down the rabbit hole,
much to dwell on... to forget
Rabbits, white, with time they stole
... I haven't found a way out yet

Running round a burrow, black,
seeking reason in the rhyme
Scouting blind, we take to tracks,
waiting for a guide... a sign

A vision made up, through the glass,
Looking good, too good for words
Twisting dreams and hopes up fast,
dressed to kill... stripped down for worse

If someone matters, let them know,
'oft said, yet easier than done
If someone's loved... lost, let them go,
pray, and watch their spirit run

to pastures that you never knew
existed in your wildest dreams
Places longed for, wished by you
where masquerades are stitched in seams

Sewn in weaves, embroidered through,
through flames we twirl, in heat we bask
A need to know the real you,
... the girl behind the veiled mask
