Poem In Support of the Homeless

PLIGHT OF A LONER

(Dedicated To The Homeless)

As I waited for the bus,

I saw him digging in the trash,

Looking for substance that would last.

With tears in my eyes, I wondered why!

As others went by, I pondered his plight,

Where would he be spending the night.

From one street to another, he shuffles on,

Dreaming of a life that now is gone.

Hopes of yesterday, drives him on his feet,

In distant cries, he yearns for prosperity.

Being poor is a very awful thing,

It leaves you scarcely nothing at all.

Though you're not rich,

Be happy for your bliss,

For in a day, you too could fall!

Then, on a journey of struggles you'll find,

Wandering as you go;

Painful memories and empty dreams,

When will it end, who knows!
