A poem about being left behind when a loved one dies
After Her Death

Deep in the woods,
They hear a cry,
From deep inside,
A heart breaks.

Once alive,
Once happy,
Now dead,
Now broken.

They think she’s whole,
They fear her,
They are blind,
‘Cause she’s broken.

She wears a mask,
Hiding her pain,
Protecting her heart,
She acts strong.

No one asks if she’s okay,
And her mask never slips,
Hiding away,
She lets her heart die.
