When your first love is gone and those memories you shared won’t leave.
I wish I could not feel
as the memories descend with vengeance;
smiles, laughter, sunshine.

I remember how my eyes had strayed
the first day we met
to take note of your beauty;
how sad that no one else seemed to see.

I wish I had never gazed into your eyes
or become so lost in those beautiful shades;
A green that captured my focus,
entranced my mind,
and the blue that shone
like the moon I pine for.

I wish, Oh how I wish,
that my heart would cease
It’s lonely call for your name.

For all those who have been heartbroken
