Sometimes finding something lost to someone else isn't as exciting as we imagined.
Letter In A Book

A tale of how our pasts dictate our futures
Will never be complete.

I imagined it as a huge old fashion mystery,
A combination of sealed bottles on the tide
And Scooby and Scrappy unmasking criminals
I found a weathered letter in a worn book:
A tale of how our pasts dictate our futures.

A combination of sealed bottles on the tide,
And pictures and memories of a childhood
For the most part best left undescribed
But with faint glimmers of the light of hope
Is what I find in this box of saved treasures.

And Scooby and Scrappy unmasking criminals
Are sadly not the stuff of our current reality,
Though I can still while away an afternoon
With these classic cartoons on my laptop,
Youtube and Roku never seem to forget.

I found a weathered letter in a worn book.
My overactive and fertile brain sprung into action,
Envisioning the kinds of childhood thoughts
And fantasies laid out on other pages
And the cartoons I remember from Sunday TV.

A tale of how our pasts dictate our futures
will never be complete.
