A poem I originally wrote a few years ago in remembrance of a celebrity who passed away.
I saw a star die last night.

It was a beautiful star.
One of the brightest in the heavens.

But it's brilliance
grew dimmer, and weaker,
through each passing night.

Until it was no more.

I wonder why that star died.

Maybe it was lonely.
Maybe no one looked up
to wish their wishes upon it.

Maybe stars in the night
are like flowers in the sun,
needing love and caring
to feel a sense of belonging
in at least one small part
in everyone's lives,

and remembrance
when they're gone.
