Horn Shadows

Herd lingers as light embraces the day
Horn shadows leave traces
Memories, bovine faces
Farm moments, open spaces

Cows slowly meander, regret laced air
caught in destiny's net
Decades forward, humans fret
Eyes older, no wiser yet

We possess an ending to die at last,
matters not where we lie
or who might be moved to cry ~
not one feels that final sigh....
